Purpose: pet emergency cards that speak for your pets

Paramedics and police look in a wallet for ID and an emergency contact. A card that says “I have pets at home” next to your bank cards tells them someone else needs help too, and who to call.

The kit goes further than one card. Medical cards carry each pet’s medicines, allergies and vet. Sitter cards give your sitter your number and your vet limit. Key tags, carrier IDs and a door sign put the same message where people look first.

A short look through every card sheet.

The files you get

Six PDF files arrive in one zip download: colour, ink-friendly and fillable, each in US Letter and A4. The cards print at the same true size on both paper sizes. In the fillable files, copies of a card share their fields, so you type once and the whole sheet matches.

Card sizes

  • Wallet cards: 3.5 × 2 in (8 per sheet; fold-over cards 4 per sheet)
  • Keyring tags: 2.5 × 1 in (18 per sheet)
  • Carrier ID cards: 5 × 3.5 in (2 per sheet)
  • Door signs: 7 × 4 in (2 per sheet)

Fit: who the pet emergency card kit is for

  • Homes with dogs and cats together
  • Pets on daily medication that cannot be missed
  • Owners who travel with a carrier or use a sitter

  3. Cut on the dashed lines; fold the fold-over cards on the dotted line.
  4. Laminate or cover with clear tape.

The day it is for

You slip on ice on the way home and spend the night in hospital. A nurse finds the card in your wallet and calls your sister. She uses the spare key from your neighbour, finds the medical card on the fridge and gives the dog his evening tablet. Your pets never miss a meal.

For a full set of sitter instructions, the Pet Sitter & Emergency Pack pairs well with these cards. More printable tools are on our tools page.

Care

Check your cards every few months and reprint them when a phone number, medicine or vet changes. Laminated cards last longer in a wallet. Replace the door sign when your pets change.

The cards help people reach the right contacts. They are not veterinary advice, and they do not replace a microchip or an ID tag on your pet’s collar.

Questions about the pet emergency cards
