Hands free in the queue, dog safe at chest height. A legs-out mesh carrier backpack you can wear on your chest or your back, for dogs up to 9 kg.
Description
Travel with a small dog means a lot of standing still while holding things. The ticket queue, the train platform, the security line, the last kilometre of a walk your dog’s legs did not quite manage. A lead in one hand and a dog underfoot is how coffee gets spilled.
This dog carrier backpack takes your dog off the floor and puts them at your height. They ride close to you, head and front legs out, watching the world go by. Your hands are free for tickets and coffee, and your dog travels the long corridors calmly instead of weaving between strangers’ feet.
Purpose: a dog carrier backpack for travel days and tired legs
Small dogs have a hard time in busy places. At floor level they see legs and rolling suitcases, and every step is a risk of being trodden on. Carrying them in your arms works for five minutes, then your arms give up.
A carrier backpack spreads the weight across your shoulders. Your dog sits upright against you, close enough to feel safe and high enough to see. On trains and in airports, that changes the whole trip for both of you.
The end of the long walk
Puppies and older dogs often run out of energy before the walk is over. With the backpack folded in your bag, you have a way home that does not involve carrying a dog in your arms for two kilometres.

Materials & make: how the legs-out carrier works
The body is nylon with breathable mesh panels, so air moves around your dog on warm days. Zips on both sides open the carrier wide for getting your dog in and out. An elastic closure sits around the neck at the top, so your dog’s head stays out and the rest of them stays in.
Inside, a leash attachment clips to your dog’s harness. Padded straps adjust fully. Wear the carrier on your chest, where you can see your dog, or on your back for longer walks.

Four colours
Red, black, blue or beige. All four come in every size. Black hides travel marks best; beige suits light clothing.
Fit: which carrier backpack size your dog needs
- S: up to 2.5 kg (5.5 lb)
- M: 2.5–3.5 kg (5.5–7.7 lb)
- L: 3.5–6.5 kg (7.7–14.3 lb)
- XL: 5.5–9 kg (12.1–19.8 lb)
How to measure: Weigh your dog. If your dog sits near the top of a range, take the next size up.

How to weigh a small dog
Step on the bathroom scale and note your weight. Pick up your dog, step on again and subtract the first number. Repeat once and use the average.
The first ride
- Clip the inside leash attachment to your dog’s harness, never the collar.
- Lower your dog in with the zips open, back legs first.
- Guide the front legs through the openings and close the top around the neck.
- Walk around the house for a few minutes, then try a short trip outside.
Short, happy first rides make the carrier something your dog looks forward to.
The day it is for
Airport mornings start early. The carrier goes on, the leash goes in your pocket, and your dog travels the long corridors at your height instead of under everyone’s feet. At the gate, they doze against your chest while you finally drink your coffee.
Packing for a trip? Read our soft carrier packing list. For airport days, the Airport Hour Set pairs this carrier with the travel water bottle.

Care
- Spot-clean the mesh with mild soap and a soft cloth.
- The fabric is washable; air dry away from direct heat.
- Check the strap stitching after heavy travel weeks.
- Store it dry, folded loosely in a bag or cupboard.
Questions about the dog carrier backpack
Can I wear it on my back?
Yes. The straps adjust so you can wear the carrier on your chest or on your back. On your chest you can keep an eye on your dog; on your back the weight sits more comfortably for longer walks.
Which size should I choose?
Weigh your dog and pick the size that covers that weight: S up to 2.5 kg, M 2.5–3.5 kg, L 3.5–6.5 kg, XL 5.5–9 kg. If your dog is between two sizes, take the larger one.
Does it keep my dog clipped in?
There is a leash attachment inside. Clip it to your dog’s harness, not the collar, before you close the top. That keeps your dog secure if they try to climb out.
Can I take it on a plane?
Airlines set their own cabin rules for pet carriers, and many require a carrier your dog travels inside fully. Check your airline’s size and type rules before you fly.
Is a legs-out carrier comfortable for dogs?
Most small dogs settle quickly once they are used to it, because they sit upright against you and can see out. Start with short rides at home and keep sessions short at first.
